Last Fairy to Fall

The colors did not turn out well in the scan. IRL it is a light wash so that it does not over power the actual detail of the pencil work, but adds to it. I made it in fall colors because of something I wrote to someone once: Yes, fall is melancholy, it is the dying of the seasons, but we always know that through this small death life is reborn. Leaves are shed so that new ones can grow, the land is laid barren so that new life can spring forth and brighten the world. And we know that under that blanket of cold whiteness, the seeds of a new year lay waiting, like love in a broken heart, it is not dead, only fallow. Once again it will be watered with kindness and compassion, and some day it too with spring forth from the cold ground of a broken heart and bloom... this is what I pray... this is where my hope lies.
